Germans appear sceptic to the Scandinavian model as marketed by the Scandinavian embassies in Berlin as per this article by Lotta Lundberg.
Nor have Germans been impressed by the Swedish-type East German totalitarian public daycare and ”generously” free ”baby year”.
The reason for the German sceptisicm is thought to be previous experience with totalitarian regimes forcing values and preferences on the citizens, as still witnessed by the German school law from 1938, now adapted also in Sweden, forcing Swedish home-schoolers into political exile.
And – the lack of totalitarian pressure on parents to leave the job with own kids for a paid job, appears not to have lowered the economical or human welfare for Germans. On the contrary !
