Debate on totalitarian Swedish family policy in IrishTimes

IN THE IRISHTIMES, a debate on Swedish Family policy is taking place (here).
Criticism against Swedish totalitarian family policies is put forward by Mr. Jonas Himmelstrand.

One of the comments is by Caroline Elfors:
I am a psychologist. I am well familiar with the attachment theory, developmental psychology and research as well as Swedish day care research, or should I say lack of such.

The one study Swedish day care advocates almost alwys refers to are from the 1980:s were child group sizes were one third or even one fourth of what they are today. And variables such as maternal sensitivity or quality of attachment were not taken into account. Nowadays a group of 17 children age 1-3 is concidered a small one. And no research on how such a stressful environment affect the children are done. Studies from other countries (Israel) have clearly shown that day care, with group size avarage of 17 children, impair the attachment quality between mother and child as well as maternal sensitivity. Also, the NICHD-study has shown that time in day care, even of good quality, correlates with chiild behavior problems.

And statistics of Swedish children and teenager’s deteriorating mental health speak for itself. As well as impaired shool results. At the same time, as young swedes problems have escalated, more and more children attend day care, at younger age and for more hours per day. And what are the government’s solution to the mental health and school issues. MORE day care. We have unfortunately not seen the end of this yet….

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME ON SWEDISH GOVERNING POLITICIANS, WHO CONTINUE A DEVASTATING SOCIALIST FAMILY POLICY, VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS, HUMAN VALUES, HUMAN HEALT, HUMAN HAPPINESS !!!!
